In 2008/2009, an event was hosted at the Bob Bullock museum that encouraged churches, nonprofits, businesses, ministries, and parachurch organizations to get out and get to know each other. These “In the City For the City” events provided the framework from which an entire movement was birthed. As spiritual leaders in the region begin to formalize a strategy to bring the church together to address a couple of systemic issues, they wanted a thread that would unite them together – and what better thread than being “In the City For the City”. In essence, the movement, the rally call, is so that those outside of our faith will see and understand that we are, as encouraged in Jeremiah 29:7, FOR our city. We are FOR the people who live here. We are FOR finding solutions to critical issues we face. We are “In the City For the City”.
