Pastors & Churches

Influencing the spiritual leaders towards unity and owning the lostness of the city

We recognize that a key strategy in seeing the Vision and Mission accomplished must include engaging the spiritual leaders in our city. We are doing this through 3 intentional methods.

• The first is to encourage pastors to consider being part of a Pastors in Covenant group. These are small groups of 8‐10 pastors who agree to meet together for 1 year to do nothing more than pray and care for one another.
• The second is to encourage participation in the annual Pastor’s Prayer Gathering – a 24 hour window of time that pastors from the Central Texas Region are invited to get a way and find refuge in prayer with each other.
• The third is through occasional citywide events targeted at Pastors called Greater Impact Greater Austin. The last event was held in November of 2010 and its purpose was to cast vision around the initiatives that are contributing to the “In the City For the City” movement.

At the same time, Youth Pastors’ are forming PIC groups and alliances in order to collaborate more effectively with parachurch ministries to really impact the students in the schools where they each have kids. They are working together to be more intentional about how to be consistent as a group in caring for kids moving through Middle Schools and High Schools.

At the same time, another unique subset of pastors, those who are pasturing a church plant, have formalized a network for the purpose of resourcing and encouraging healthy missional churches. This network is called the PlantR Network.
